What Are Chronic Conditions?
A chronic condition is defined as one that:
  • Lasts — or is expected to last — a year or longer
  • Limits what a person can do
  • May require ongoing care

Some conditions cause few problems. Others cause episodic problems or symptoms that can be controlled with medication. But in some cases, the condition may severely limit a person's ability to work, go to school, or take care of routine needs.
